At our Beginner Dog Classes, this is what we learned: Beginner Requirements: Dogs must be at least six months old. A training collar will be provided as part of the class fee. Dog/handler teams will be taught how to:
- Sit, down and stand
- Stay and come when called
- Walk politely on leash
- Grooming and handling, including checking ears, teeth and feet
- Stopping jumping up and incessant barking
- Relinquishing toys, food and other items at handler’s request
- Teaching door respect and “leave it”
What we learned in our Beginner Advanced Dog Class:
Advanced Beginner: Dogs must have completed the Beginner class or demonstrated equivalent skills. This class will prepare dog/handler teams for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) which will be given on the last night of class. Items on the CGC test include:

- Supervised separation
